Had a fantastic time in Barbados. The accommodation was ideal for me and my two children. The neighbours were all very friendly. The local transportation (buses) were regular and an experience I will not forget too quickly. It is easy to get to Bridgetown and other places on the island. I must say the beach was perfect. Went snorkeling at the shipwreck and swam with the turtles. I would recommend this property to friends and family and would stay there again.

“Perfectly equipped pretty, clean and tidy Bajan home”. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Marcia's lovely home. The house has everything you need and is in a nice quiet local street where the other people who live in the road will talk to you and make you feel welcome.
It is only a short walk to a lovely beach and places to eat and drink. Regular buses run along the beach road at the bottom of the street to take you anywhere on the Island.
I have read the critical review of the house and I cannot believe the people who wrote it stayed in the same place - their comments are so far from the truth of this quiet and well-presented comfortable local house.
If you want to stay in a nice quiet local road with friendly neighbours, helpful owners and in a property that is fully equipped and clean then my wife and I can highly recommend this house.

“Comfy Villa a short stroll from the beautiful paynes bay”
Thankyou for a lovely stay - the locals in the street made us feel so welcome and the villa is well equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable holiday in the carribean, including some board games which got a work out as well. Marcia is a pleasure to deal with in booking the villa and everything was as promised. The villa is just a tiny stroll away from the gorgeous carribean waters with good snorkelling and swimming with the turtles. Beats a hotel/resort any day!

“Great Location at Paynes Bay”
Great holiday. Nice neighbours, family of the Villa owner. Felt very secure. Would go back. West coast, St James very close to Paynes Bay just a two minute walk. Good local restaurants nearby. Vics was a favourite. Daphnes was Divine!

'We had a very relaxing stay in Paynes bay, just a few minutes from the beach with our two young girls. Marcia, Anne Marie, and Jennie were all very helpful in getting us settled in. For example, we had mentioned our little girl falling off the bed the first night we arrived and Anne Marie arrived the next day with a crib and a high chair'.

Wonderful. Was greeted upon arrival and had every eminty we could have needed. My only regret is that we were only staying one day before checking in to our full time residence. Great in every way and literally a 5 minute walk from a beautiful beach.

'Two friends and I just stayed at Marcia's villa near Paynes Bay. We were greeted by Jenny who showed us around the place and was so kind and helpful. As we were leaving to try our first attempt to figure out the bus we ran into Anne-Marie briefly who works for Marcia. She is very friendly and gave us some quick tips for the bus. Sadly we didn't have a chance to run into her again as we spent most of our time out and about because of our short stay we wanted to be outside as much as possible.
EVERYONE in Barbados is so friendly and helpful. We had set up a tour and were to be picked up at hotel that maps said was right on our corner but really it was just a 5 minute walk down the main Rd. Locals saw our puzzled faces and quickly came to happily point us in the right direction and one even began to walk with us to the destination to make sure we found it. Don't hesitate to ask for help or receive help. At the end of Laynes Rd on Hwy 1 you can catch a bus to go towards Bridgetown. There you will find Baxter Rd and alot of boat tours, snorkeling tours and Pirates Cove is a nice beach with friendly staff. The water is calmer down there as well which is great for swimming. If you go to pirates cove and want to do a snorkeling tour with sea turtles ask for Shan, John and or Vincent. It's cheaper than booking something through the jolly roger website. You can also take the bus north 7 minutes and will find a grocery store and more restaurants. Also if you go a bit farther up like 3/4 minutes more you will find a bar called The Golden Anchor and they do different activities each day like trivia and karaoke on Saturday. Even if you don't do Karaoke if you go I BET you will have a blast. The crowd is a great mixture of locals and visitors with great price drinks and delicious food. BUS TIPS: There is no map or bus schedule so if you go to a bus stop know it could take like approx. 10 minutes give or take. They stop running as often after midnight. You're better off getting a cab. Generally it's about every 15 minutes that the bus runs and they cost $2 Barbados dollars (that is 1 USD but they only accept Barbados dollars). The yellow ones are own privately and are more flexible in the sense they stop wherever and even if you aren't at a bus stop you can wave them down and they will pull over. Also if you don't have exact change lets say only 5 Barbados dollars they can give you change. There is a man who is usually standing in the doorway and he is the one that collects the money.'
